HUMAN WAY--CAN WE REGAIN OUR PATH TO HUMANITY?

Seems to me that , after 80 years of being a guest on planet Earth, our planet is as screwed up as ever. Even after the Depression and Second World War the world and our country slowly healed and a relative equanimity evolved. We seemed to develop some cohesion and most of our world engagements avoided wars. Threats, yes ; but for a while no wars. Then came the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and both were tragic blunders. Opposition eventually culminated in our backing out of combat, ending the military draft, and instead began to promenade as the world's greatest power, militarily anyway.

Our Country seemed to enter an era of bullying and subjecting other countries to our threat of and power of military force. Other counties adopted similar tactics., sometimes with the brutal massacres of their own citizens, often other innocent victims. War after war infects the world and kills innocent people. Iraq, Afghanistan and the Mid East are infected with the seeds of war.

The world has entered a continuous stream of oneupmanship maneuvers, sometimes deadly, as we wait with deepening anxiety for the next world war and its inevitable nuclear world-destruction.

Can mankind avoid this madness? Can the military power of the world be bridled? Can we realize a fresh start adopting Schweitzer's "reverence for life"--ALL LIFE, the true HUMAN WAY?

We have a choice. A world of chaos and wanton destruction leading to hell on Earth, or a choice that fosters the growth of HUMANITY. After 78 years on Earth the Path to Humanity is my choice and hopefully yours too.

My blog, Human Way, will discuss issues and observations that are intended to generate thinking and possible actions to spread the Human Way ever so slightly. Each minuscule step along the Path to Humanity will strengthen progress along this path. Bon Voyage, Gracias, and Shalom.
